Traditions of Men

The healing of the man crippled for 38 years sets a precedent.  The old tradition of waiting for a divine encounter changes. The man waited dependant on others. Jesus comes to him personally. All he has to do is be willing to be healed. John 5 Religious tradition is shattered just like with the woman bent over for 18 years. Luke 13:10-17 The law doesn’t work. Love does. The religious leaders were incensed. They were furious Jesus broke the law and ‘worked’ on the Sabbath. Jesus was furious this woman had not be set free as any animal would have been. .  Traditions of men making the Word of no effect.  … Continue reading

The Real Deal!

When Jesus assured the Centurion his servant would be healed,  he ‘believed in his heart’.  Math. 8:5-13 The healing took place at a distance.  This blows ‘seeing is believing’ out of the water!  It is a wonderful key to faith for healing.  Our eyes see and our bodies feel the symptoms of sickness and disease,  grief and sorrow.  Focused upon they have a vice-like grip on our emotions.  The centurion focused on Jesus and believed His word.  He looked at the sincerity of the man and trusted and believed in His promise.  That was sufficient for His power to be released to break the grip of the symptoms and bring … Continue reading

Satisfaction

Jesus draws a parallel to feeding on natural food and water and to enjoying a spiritual feast. He tells the woman at the well if she drinks the water from Jacob’s well she will thirst again. If she draws on the living water she will never thirst again. When His disciples return they have concerns he should eat. His reply makes the same inference to eating as his reply to the woman about drinking. His explanation is fascinating. His feast is not in eating but in feeding the woman and in doing the will of His Father. V 32/34 He truly is the Bread of Life.  The principle is taught … Continue reading

Deafened by noise or blinded by The Light

Do you hear God clearly?  Think of Abraham. He heard Him clearly.  Maybe because he wasn’t distracted as we are. No television or Internet.  No loud travel around or above him.  Able to concentrate with a less hectic life than we live today.  No wonder Jesus says ‘Come aside.’ How precious is that trysting place you find.  That quiet place you preserve to meet with Him.  But the chaos inside us needs to be subdued too.  No good finding a quiet retreat to take the clutter and clatter of life  still throbbing in a fearful heart and racing in an anxious mind.  The 1st. step is to come aside. Mark … Continue reading

Settler or Searcher?

Because life with God is so much better than life without Him,  it is easy to settle in the shallow waters.  Yet there is So much more.  Are you a settler or a searcher.  Settlers look back.  Searchers look forward. Sometimes circumstances change us, sometimes others inspire us.  Always the Holy Spirit stirs us and encourages us to go on.  Scared of heights? Scared of being out of your depth? Do it scared! The Spirit within you is fearless. Not reckless. Trust Him. Listen to Him.  Stepping out in your own strength with your own agenda is risky.  Get your marching orders from above.  That after all is the direction … Continue reading
